Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin Former Governor, Bangladesh Bank
Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, the 7th Governor of Bangladesh Bank, from November 24, 1998, to November 22, 2001, was a distinguished figure whose contributions spanned academia, public service, and the corporate world.
Dr. Farashuddin's professional journey commenced as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Dhaka in 1964. His path then led him to the Civil Service of Pakistan (CSP) between 1966 and 1973, where he held pivotal administrative roles, including Sub-Divisional Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Deputy Secretary, and Joint Secretary.
He was the Private Secretary to the Father of the Nation, Bangubandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the Prime Minister and the President during 1973-1975.
He also served as the rapporteur of the UNDP Governing Council in 1980, member of the Bangladesh Delegation of the First UNLDC Conference held in Paris in 1981
